So, CorePage only hosts links?

Top

CorePage provides an easy way to build and organize an ever-growing library of links (and embed codes — most often used with videos), adding names, descriptions, pop-up window sizes, and internal-only comments. We call these "items" and once they're in CorePage, you can use them again and again to make custom, private link pages that are always connected to CorePage. So, any change you make to an item is automatically reflected on every page that contains that item.

CorePage also allows you to group frequently used items together in "collections" that, like items themselves, can be added to a page with a single click.

Where will I host my files?

Top

While CorePage doesn't host files, it does provide some suggestions of both free and paid hosting services for video, images, shared files, screen capture tools and more. In fact, we actively seek relationships with such companies in order to provide some integration between their products and CorePage. You'll find them listed in the "Resources" section of the Help System.

That said, we know that many of our users are already hosting their files on corporate servers, content delivery networks and other services.

CorePage counts clicks? What about privacy?

Top

CorePage doesn't do anything that hasn't been done for years on websites, in email marketing systems and in online advertising. Though most people may not realize it, that's a fact of life online.

The difference with CorePage is that this click-counting is intended for use only by the person who created and sent the link to the page — to confirm that the recipient looked at what was provided for him. No contextual advertising is being served, no click-data is being compiled for sale to 3rd parties — it wouldn't make sense or be of much use because of the limited-use nature of these "private" pages. In fact, publishing the address of a link page created with CorePage is a violation of our terms of service, and can get the offending user's account terminated.

Still, we recognize that some people are uncomfortable with the idea of click-counting on an individually identifiable basis. This is true for some potential users of CorePage as well as their contacts. That's why we provide the ability to turn this feature "off" from within the settings section. That way, you can still use CorePage to create professional looking instant link pages.

What about search engines, won't they find my link pages?

Top

CorePage provides several levels of defense against indexing by search engines. From special instructions on each link page that tell the robots not to index them, to special code on our servers designed to detect and ignore search engine spiders, we take this very seriously. We also provide optional password protection for each page, so that particularly private information can be further protected. In fact, we strongly recommend the use of page passwords as the best defense against indexing.

When more protection is needed, we recommend the use of item-level security which can be provided by the systems that are actually hosting your files. Corporate extranets and certain online file-sharing services provide this level of security.

Even with all the steps we've taken, we realize that if you don't use a password, a page might still somehow be indexed. One of the best defenses against that is in your hands. If you don't make the link pages publicly available by posting links to them online, they're less likely to be found. In fact, publishing the address of a link page created with CorePage is a violation of our terms of service, and can get the offending user's account terminated.

Will CorePage replace my CRM system?

Top

Never, that's not our business. In fact, CorePage is a great companion to customer relationship management and sales force automation systems. CorePage can import only the most basic information like name, email address, company name and phone numbers, but nothing else. CorePage is focused solely on the job of creating and managing instant link pages.

Will CorePage interface with CRM, SFA and knowledge management systems?

Top

That's definitely in our plans, and developers of those systems are making integration with other products a key part of their product strategies as well. In the near future, we'll be offering an application program interface (API) to make that possible.

How will CorePage support groups, call centers and large distributed sales forces?

Top

In the near future, we'll introduce CorePage PRO, which is optimized for groups of all sizes. At the heart of the system is a central library of items that can be controlled from a single point (if desired) and used throughout the organization. We have a great group administration module with flexible access, management and reporting. See our pricing page for additional information.
